Aluminium (AliClad)

Miglas uses an aluminium exterior to achieve a durable exterior that never needs painting. It looks like a timber window and maintains its warmth & beauty.

Why don't Miglas produce aluminium windows?

Aluminium is a poor insulator due to the extremely high thermal conductivity. An all aluminium (includes aluminium improved) frame is not a thermally efficient solution.
The simulated window energy rating (WERS) can show misleading results, however, reality tells a different story.

How do Miglas reduce the conduction?

Miglas AliClad windows have a timber interior and compressible gaskets to reduce the conduction through the frame for improved comfort.

Why does Miglas use aluminium cladding?

Miglas use the aluminium exterior to reduce maintenance and improve the durability. The aluminium cladding reduces the impact of sun (radiation), rain and dirt on the timber parts (interior).

  • Low Maintenance — No painting!
  • Timber decay protection — No rotting!

It is a cladding that never needs painting. This means that there is no paint wash off, no harmful paint solvents and minimal maintenance for your window exterior. These advantages justify the higher embodied energy of aluminium.

The wide range of colours allow you the choice of an individual finish.
